The About the Book:
The story starts out with “The Shocking News” of Ian’s death and the devastation felt by his family, spouse, friends and mental health community during COVID-19. The story is narrated by Sara who reminisces throughout his life with the memories and experiences she had with Ian before his passing. When Ian was clinically diagnosed with Schizophrenia and the affects it had on his immediate family and social circles. His journey through the mental health system, institutions, hospitals, client programs and group homes settings with psychiatric nurses, social workers, doctors and psychiatrists before eventually finding some independence. The constant voices in Ian's head that tormented him regularly, striving to rid himself of the paranoia he would often feel making it difficult to determine his own reality. The effects of anti-psychotic medications for over 32 years on his mental, emotional and physical health and constant struggle to live a somewhat “normal” life. His attempt at happiness through marriage and the eventual breakdown due to this devastating illness. Finally, his last attempt at happiness prior to his passing and the family's experiences through their own journey of loss and grief. This book is a work of fiction, however derived from several years experience dealing with mental health issues. This story has no boundaries, but for families dealing with loved ones with mental illness, may relate well to this book's genre. How to purchase this book:
